NAVIGATOR-1
MODULE ELECTRONICS
ENCODER OF TELESCOPE POSITION WITH PC INTERACTION

installed on mount LX10  MEADE

A part from my colleague´s Jaroslav Kares email, 8. september 2002:

In the photographs you can see the placement and covering of sensors RA and DE and electronics
of my
NAVIGATOR-1 on my MEADE LX 10

I
n stead of comment we preffered photographs:

The cover of sensor DE

The sensor RA

Sensor DE is placed under cover from dural.

The electronics is placed under plastic cover in of
mount like sensor RA.

Assembly and disassembly is easy.
    - For taking off the cover of sensor RA it is need to unsrew one screw.
    - By unscrewing of another screw it is possible to take off the cover of electronics of NAVIGATOR-1.
The cover of the sensor DE don´t have to be removed. It is enough to screw out the screw that holds the dial DE and to take it off.

I haven´t tried the correction Z1, Z2, Z3 of mistakes in SkyCharts, it masn´t necessary.

There is nothing more to say about working of the modul of Navigator-1.
I have worked successfuly with NAVIGATOR-1 & LX10 about ten nights. The most important thing is the adjustment of the mount. I would say taht it has the biggest influence on the exactness of the navigation. But In case of good constitution and setting of mount LX10 the NAVIGATOR-1 searches steady.

It is clear that to the exactness of placement of sky objects has the biggest influence also the resolution of the sensor, in my case with only 1024 steps. I think that for the telescope with the field of vision maximal cca 40 minutes could be the exactness a bit bigger.

The cover for modul NAVIGATOR-1

The modul of NAVIGATOR-1 is placed in cover of plastic material and you must put the modul in the fork-type of mount together with the cover.
The photograph of placement of electronics of NAVIGATOR-1 in a cover, that is sliding in the fork of mount MEADE LX 10. On the picture there is clear the placement of LED diods that signs power supply and communication RS232 of the modul.
