GuideDog to PEAS
P.E. & FFT of the mount
Vixen SP [Super Polaris ] year
of acquisition 1992
The are many amateurs who use
GuideDog de BarkoSoftWare,
and which would like to make the statement of the periodic error with PEAS.
It is now possible with this small utility "GuideDog To Peas" (file
guidedog_peas.exe), which converts the file "GuidingErrors.log" into
a format compatible with PEAS, in fact IRIS.
To do this, fill the fields in the program GuideDog to Peas :
* Pixel size of the CCD camera
* Focal length of the guidescope on which the camera is mounted
* Launch the conversion : two files are then produced
- "X_Error.txt" &
- "Y_Error.txt" [ of course one can put a another name ]
These files are in the same folder that guidedog_peas.exe
Then
* Open PEAS
* in the Input data, select the Iris format IRIS
* fill the fields :
- Pixel size,
- Focal distance [same values as in GuideDog to Peas],
- Star declination who was used for measurements
- Maximum period of gear set RA
* Select the X_Error.txt file [that which interests us in general], and
then
* PEAS display the data and graphs relating to the periodic error PE and
the FFT [ Fast Fourier Transform ].
For those which that interests, conversion goes in the following way :
GUIDEDOG - > errors in ArcSec,
IRIS - > errors in Pixels.
It's thus to pass from ArcSec towards Pixel : that's all.
It is what the program "GuideDog to PEAS v 1.3" created by Daniel
PASTUSZAK does,
and that you can download -> guidedog_peas.zip (220 kB env.)
Here’s an example:
# guidingerrors.zip - (output
of SW GuideDog),
# x_error.txt - (output
of SW guidedog_peas.exe),
# y_error.txt - (output
of SW guidedog_peas.exe),
# readme.txt - data
for the sample.
