For those who are interested in getting PEAS,  PEAS Beta 4 is ready for DOWNLOAD
 

The question is: What is the quality of my equatorial mount and it is suitable for astrophotography or using digital CCD camera - WEBCAM ?

You are not satisfied with the mount, but how determine the weakness of mechanical gear degrading good features of mount.  
 

Measuring P.E.  is the answers to these questions, but...

Standard methods of evaluation of  P.E. are very complicated, take a lot of time, need sophisticated software ( e.g. MATHLAB, SigView ) and knowledge how to use it.

Mr. Karel Siman  - author of program PEAS - gave us solution of this problem:

He developed very effective and friendly to use program PEAS (Periodic Error Analyzing Software)

PEAS is totally free for all. No fees, no restrictions.

The new, improved version contains

- possibility of correction position DE of measured star and

- correction for differentiation of camera in cases when scan program generate P.E. in pixels (e.g. IRIS).
- introduce a headline into P.E.and FFT diagram (New!)

contains a brief manual for installation and use of the program IRIS for taken differences P.E. by WEBCAM.

In spite of big efforts, we didn´t manage to get out data files P.E. generated in program MaxIm.

Without knowledge of format of these files, it is impossible to process them in SW PEAS, for these formats it is necessary to make templates.

Sorry for English translation errors.

By the end (and for sure) I repeat:

- Parameters P.E. and analysis FFT are not the only parameters determinating quality of mount.  

- But for photography and scanning (imaging) of celestial objects are undoubtedly decisive.
